Recurring RPG Reviews

Recurring RPG Reviews

So! I've done enough game reviews here and figured it was time to give them their own offshoot post type. It's either that or have a huge number of Side Posts labelled simply "Side Post!". That was fun enough at first, but it's time to make a distinction! I'll include links here to previous game reviews that are technically Side Posts, but that should be included in here as well.

I'm going to try and jump back and forth between old video game RPGs and modern day RPGs, but we'll see how it goes. I'll also try to avoid all the big names, like the series that inspired this blog or the series I plan to play after that. Big thing here is to try and get myself informed on older and more unknown RPGs. Maybe I find myself a new favorite... WHO KNOWS!

Something to keep in mind here though! Although I'm making this, it doesn't guarantee RPG reviews fast nor on time. These are more like fun distractions from my main goals here and there. I figure I could do one ever so often to fill in gaps and keep the content coming yet fresh. Now for...LINKS!

Recurring RPG Reviews

     Rating - 5 / 10
Summary - Interesting game that changes up from the norm. Classic story with fun characters and musical numbers make this a different title. However, lackluster gameplay and visuals really show and leave this a cult classic at best. Best for beginning RPG-ers or people wanting a simple RPG.

     Rating - 8 / 10
Summary - Great action RPG for the PC. Interesting story, lots of character customization, and basically just a shining example of how action RPGs should be. The only lacking element I found was that I doubt I'd be interested enough to do single player, but that's because I just loved doing a co-op run of it!

     Rating - 8 / 10
Summary - Fun RPG with platforming exploration and a challenging battle system that will put you to the test! Highly recommended for anybody with a 3DS who is yearning for an RPG! Be forewarned that this game has a lot of precision and timing bits, so you'll need to be prepared.

     Rating - 10 / 10
Summary - Great, classic PS1 RPG with action, adventure, story, and great gameplay. It's pretty much just a massive pile of great game, and you should go get it right now! It's just... sad that it never got a sequel or anything remotely close.

Recurring RPG Review #5
Child of Light

     Rating - 9 / 10
Summary - Great children's book style of fantasy with fantastic aesthetics, rewarding and enjoyable exploration, challenging battles, and interesting characters story to get you going. Available for basically any modern console and hard to pass up unless you hate rhyming.

Recurring RPG Review #6
Conception II - Children of the Seven Stars

     Rating - 4 / 10
Summary - Anime-style game with social relationships, "classmating", dungeon exploring, but nothing exemplary enough to call this a fantastic title. Built for a specific kind of person, but you can probably do better.

Recurring RPG Review Collection Zero
(Just a fancy name for any review included before I implemented this system.)

      - Includes a short and quick reviews of Final Fantasy Tactics, Final Fantasy Mystic Quest, and Dissidia Final Fantasy. Generally positive reviews of all three titles.

Theatrhythm Final Fantasy - Tapping the Fantasies!
     - A poorly done review of Theatrhythm Final Fantasy for 3DS. However, it also appears to be one of the few reviews of this title since it's one of the more looked at posts on my blog. I'm fairly happy with the game despite it's fairly niche audience.

Ni No Kuni: Wrath of the White Witch Review
     - One of my better written reviews on the blog. It's also like my (currently as of 7/21/2013) most popular and viewed posts on here. Yay for that! Fantastic game that I'd honestly recommend

Classic RPG Review - Secret of Evermore
     - The first classic RPG I decided to review! It's also the last in Collection Zero since I started this sub-label of posts after/with this review! Great older action RPG with a lot of challenge for those who are willing!
